Summertime calls for bubbles, iced tea, and plenty of time outdoors. Sometimes the "lessons" we need to focus on the most are just having fun. Childhood only lasts a moment. I want to savor every bit of his that we can.

Fish Fingers
We made Fish from Fingerprints to learn more about the letter F today. The Punk pressed his fingerprints in the watered down paint to make the water and a few goldfish, and Mommy added the fish details (fins, eyes and tails). I saw a similar idea here, and added it to our Art Wall (which is somehow becoming an Alphabet Wall with all of our letter projects!). The letter we printed was from here, and then we backed it with construction paper before hanging it to dry.

Sorry, Pumpkin
A couple of weeks ago I planned on doing a lesson (and photo journal) of the sprouting of a Pumkin Seed. I dampened a paper towel, placed the seed in a zip top bag, and taped it to our side window.
Then promptly forgot it.
Life happened, and we became busy doing other things. A few days ago Daddy and I were in the back yard and he saw the baggie taped to the window - and pointed it out to me. Yikes! Our seed!
Nature went on without our assistance, and our seed had sprouted. And grown roots, And was more than ready to be planted. So much for the photo journaling!
This morning I rescued the plant from it's window prison, and planted it in a small pot to get it started outdoors. Ahhhh, that's better.

We took a break.
We didn't take a break from learning, not by any means. But we did take a short break in our daily routine for a bit. And our informal "schooling" became even less formal. Sometimes you just need to scale back a little.
We have been visiting parks, museums, and doing FUN things that have taught us about ourselves and the world around us.
And we are BACK! And ready to routine-up again, and learn, learn, learn! Looks like Mommy has some lesson planning to do over the weekend.
